چکیده

In this paper, we introduce the Stethoscopic Non-Audible Murmur (NAM) microphone, and we focus on its application in automatic speech recognition systems. The NAM microphone is attached behind the talker’s ear, and can capture very quietly uttered murmur (NAM speech). It is applicable in automatic speech recognition systems, when privacy is important in human-machine communication. Moreover, since the NAM microphone receives the speech signal directly from the body, it shows robustness against the environmental noises. In addition to these, it might be also used in special systems (speech recognition, speech transform, etc.) for soundimpaired people. By applying adaptation techniques, we performed automatic speech recognition experiments for NAM speech. Using Maximum A Posteriori (MAP) adaptation, and a combination with Maximum Likelihood Linear Regression (MLLR) adaptation we achieved for a 20k vocabulary dictation system a 93.5% word accuracy, which is a very promising result.

Remodeling of the sensor for non-audible murmur (NAM)

We developed the next generation of skin-attachment sensors for sampling NAM (Non-Audible Murmur) signals by using soft silicone, which has an acoustic impedance close to that of human flesh, as the prime medium of vibration. With new NAM microphones we could sample expanded target voice signal, suppressing air conduction noise signal to low by the experiment of synchronous stereo sampling of a...

Technologies for processing body-conducted speech detected with non-audible murmur microphone

In this paper, we review our recent research on technologies for processing body-conducted speech detected with Non-Audible Murmur (NAM) microphone. NAM microphone enables us to detect various types of body-conducted speech such as extremely soft whisper, normal speech, and so on. Moreover, it is robust against external noise due to its noise-proof structure. To make speech communication more u...
